... A phobia (from the Greek: f?ß??,phóbos, meaning "fear" or "morbid fear") is an irrational, intense and persistent fear of certain situations, activities, things, animals, or people. The meaning in the Greek language has NOT changed. There is NO such thing as homophobia, as a "phobia" is a fear of something. A "homo" phobia would be a fear of homosexuals... Just a reminder, we speak English here in the U.S., not literal Greek. ...
Definition of homophobia in English:
homophobia
noun
Dislike of or prejudice against homosexual people. Just a reminder that there is something called ETYMOLOGY ( the study of the history of words. By extension, the phrase "the etymology of [some words]" means the origin of the particular word..") The ETYMOLOGY of PHOBIA comes from the GREEK. A PHOBIA (from the Greek: f?ß??,phóbos, meaning "fear" or "morbid fear") is an irrational, intense and persistent FEAR of certain situations, activities, things, animals, or people. The meaning in the Greek language has NOT changed; therefore, There is NO such thing as homophobia, as a "phobia" is a fear of something. A "homo" phobia would be a fear of homosexuals, and what you mislabel as a phobia is actually a legitimate disapproval of a deviant behavior. Your non- acceptance of that genuine disapproval doesn't legitimize the distorted presentation of what a phobia is.

Once again, Wale, we speak English and not literal Greek. The current definition of the word "homophobia," in English, is "Dislike of or prejudice against homosexual people," as I've previously shown.
Another little reminder for you Wale... Etymology is not merely the study of the origins of words, but also include the study of ways in which their meanings have changed throughout history. In times past, homophobia meant "fear of men."
homophobic (adj.)
by 1971, from homo- (2) "homosexual" + -phobia + -ic. Related: Homophobe; homophobia (which word is said to date from 1969 in this context; earlier "fear of men," by 1908).

There is disapproval and then there is phobia and then there are laws. Homosexualty goes back thousands of years. It is not that difficult if you are Christian, right off the bat in Genesis, God made us in his own image, you cannot be selective in that definition, it is what it is.

THAT is a legitimate disapproval of a deviant and dysfunctional behavior.

Beware! speakurmind.freeforums.net/thread/900/yall-me-offIn any case, the authors of the "Federalist Papers" did not proffer a weak federal government. Just the opposite.

Thanks for showing your ignorance.
Did you know that sometimes English words have their origins in a combination of words from more than one language? That 1908 definition of homophobia was a product of using "homo" from the Latin and "phobia" from the Greek.

Disagreement with maladjusted views such as those who ADVOCATE for the normalcy of homosexuality does not establish that abnormal behavior and dysfunction as normal.

I can respond. The Constitution also made clear the LIMITATIONS ( many of them ) of the Federal government. The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.-10th Amendment
