The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of Very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father by whom all things were made; who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man, and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried, and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father. And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead, whose kingdom shall have no end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And we believe one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. And we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Filled with unscriptural teachings.... That doesn't make sense. This Creed was developed long before there was any settled Scripture. Looking at it historically, The Nicene Creed was determined by the Christian Church as the agreed upon beliefs at that time. The Christian leaders assembled and hammered out a Creed that the Christian faithful were to follow. When the Nicene Creed was developed, there was a lot of writings floating around that did not make it into today's Scripture. There were other Gospels, there were more of Paul's letters. There was the Didache, and even the "Q" source if you buy into that theory. In other words, there was no "Scripture" that we recognize today, for them to base their Creed upon. So, the Church authority created this Creed for the faithful to understand what it is that Christians recognize, and to help snuff out heresies that were popping up. What's even more ironic, is the fact that the bishop who first drew up the list of 27 books of the New Testament was actually present at the Council of Nicaea and helped draw up the Creed! It took more than four decades after the Council of Nicaea to pass before his list of books became public. And the version you see in the OP came from the Council of Constantinople in 381 and it too predates the list of 27 books of the New Testament My question is, if you recognize the authority of the Church that gave us the 27 books of the New Testament, and accept their judgement that it is the Word of God, why wouldn't you also accept that exact same authority that gave us the Creed? It just doesn't logically follow to state that the Nicene Creed is "unscriptural."

The Nicene Creed vs the Bible! The authority that declared the Nicene Creed is the same authority that declared the Bible. It doesn't seem rational to recognize one and not the other. Why would they select books that opposed their teachings? It makes more sense to realize that the Church selected books for the Bible that reflected their teachings.

Answer my question: Job 27:3- All the while my breath is in me, and the Spirit of God is in my nostrils... Was the imaginary Almighty Ghost-God in Job's NOSTRILS???? Hi themadjw,
Job 27:1-23 is Job's masal, his poem, and the reference to the Spirit of God, is meant to imply life. God is the creator of life, thus Job was saying literally, "while I breath, while life is in me."

The Nicene Creed vs the Bible! For 2,000 years the clergy have remained, teaching the EXACT OPPOSITE of the Bible... It depends on what hundreds of Christian faiths you follow, as an Episcopalian the Nicene Creed is extremely important, some of the Bible, not so.

There is ONE doctrine but MANY denominations.

Filled with unscriptural teachings.... That is a bald faced lie. It is also stupid, since the creed pre-dates the canon of the New Testament. Moron.

Every post by themadjw here is a lie.
themadjw obviously denies the Trinity which places him OUTSIDE of Christianity. He's probably a JW.
